FBI undercover agent Scott Payne’s job was to infiltrate the most dangerous gangs of our times: outlaw bikers, drug cartels and the international neo-Nazi networks hellbent on inciting a race war. He was taking down these groups from within. And Scott was good at it — people confided in him their most audacious plans for mass violence and domestic terrorism. In the second season of White Hot Hate, host Michelle Shephard gives you an unvarnished view of a life undercover. Because after a 28-year-long career pretending to be somebody else, Agent Payne is ready to tell his side of the story. Coming March 25, 2025. This series was produced alongside a book co-written by Scott Payne and Michelle Shephard titled Code Name: Pale Horse: How I Went Undercover to Expose America's Nazis.

Absolutely loved it but politics need to be left out

I love a good FBI Agent tell all story especially someone like Scott who’s a big guy and big personality who went all in. I like the host and she is who helped write his book but the cross over into politics needed to be left out. I knew right away that someone like Scott isn’t going to go along with her leading questions to get him into the drama of it all. His view and his words were perfect for across all parties and he diffused the direction she was going in. He did all the incredible under cover work so it’s his story…..she tried to take some of the glory by bringing in the politics.
Interesting, well-reported, and on point

Excellent reporting, narration, and production. The first season was already fantastic but the CBC crew have continued to cement their work in the second season. Michelle finds great balance between summary and first-hand accounts, and carries the story with pace that allows for detail without over focusing or stagnating the narrative. Scott is the perfect type of big personality that brings intrigue and additional life to solid journalism and an intriguing, well-executed podcast. Easily one of the best in true crime I’ve listened to in a while. Seems funny to me how many people loved the show until politics got involved, as though the two were somehow, up until the end, completely unrelated. It’s almost as if they were more surprised and offended that political issues were raised than they were that the normalized rhetoric in some political circles is both a gateway to and perpetuator of hate… Must be truly awful to leave the door to the echo chamber open, then yell at everyone else like it’s their fault when some truth leaks in.
Excellent

Absolutely gripping and beautifully done. The complaints in these reviews, however, about literally 3 minutes of acknowledging how political rhetoric and policy can contribute to hate-based movements (an indisputable historic truth) are ridiculous and a perfect example of how denial helps foster those movements. If we can’t be honest about these motivating factors, we are going to need a lot more Scotts…
Great podcast
