For Melissa Moore, 1995 was a nightmare. That’s the year the teenager learned her father, Keith Hunter Jesperson, was a serial killer. It’s also the year Melissa Moore’s doubt spiral began: When you look like your father, and you share his intelligence and charisma, how do you know you’re not a psychopath, too? Happy Face is the story of Keith Hunter Jesperson, his brutal crimes, and the cat and mouse game he played with detectives and the media. But it’s also the story of the horrific legacy he gifted his children. Join Melissa Moore as she investigates her father’s crimes, reckons with the past, and wades through her darkest fears as she hunts for a better future. Inspired by Melissa's true-life story, Happy Face is now a Paramount+ Original Series, streaming March 20th. The thrilling drama stars Annaleigh Ashford and Dennis Quaid.

Great storytelling/terrible ads
hace 6 días
The Ad to Podcast ratio is sadly 1:1, meaning you spend as much time listening or skipping ads as you do listening to engaging and emotional storytelling. Learning to ride a bike is not remotely the same as getting murdered, maybe iHeart should stop using AI to write ad copy. It does a disservice to the real people telling their story, and in this case, discovering life changing information about where they come from.
I loved both seasons

I enjoyed listening to season 1! I always wondered about the children of the serial killers. I’m so glad we got the insight. You’re such an awesome person Melissa. I’m happy you got where you’re at in life. Season 2, I enjoyed it but not like the first one. Becky made me so irritated. She had it so good. To me, it was like “Poor me. Poor me.” Hello! You had two awesome parents and you just ruined your own life. Becky had a choice to make her life good even knowing the fact her biological mother is murderer. Her biological father probably didn’t want nothing to do with her since she went down the wrong path. Becky lived poor life that she chose for herself. His own daughter he had, was successful. Becky could’ve changed her life and think “I’m be better than my biological mom.” Took her 30 yrs to finally realize she had good partners. Shes ruined her own life by making that choice to feel sorry for herself.

I really enjoyed this podcast. I’m so glad that Becky has realized how wonderful her parents are. I feel like she is at peace. I will say I am quite disgusted that her bio-uncle assumed that Becky would be “the voice for Diane’s innocence”. I know that’s his sister in prison, but come on dude. It was just plain RUDE.
